WALKING FOOTBALL PARTNERSHIP                       9 DEC. 2016 NEWS

United for All, the official Charity partner of Dundee United Football Club, is delighted to announce that we will now be working in partnership with Dryburgh Athletic Community Club in delivering Walking Football to the over 50's.  The partnership will use the strength of both organisations to engage the local community in this exciting form of physical activity for those over 50.  Walking Football is just like the beautiful game we all know and love with one main exception – it’s a foul to run.

Jamie Kirk, Community Trust Manager at United for All, had this to say about the new partnership: “It’s a fantastic way for us to link with a really successful local grassroots club.  They’ve been involved in football in the local area for a number of years and this partnership will only strengthen the reach we can achieve and the quality of the project.”

Dryburgh Athletic Community Club were equally enthused with Club Chairman Ronnie McCabe adding: “We are delighted to be further enhancing our links with Dundee United following our recent girl’s football pathway and hope to encourage those not so young in the local community to participate in sport.”

Our sessions take place at St John’s RC High School every Wednesday from 7pm – 8pm and are currently free of charge thanks to generous funding the Postcode Community Trust. For more information please contact projects@unitedforall.co.uk or call or text Lauren on 07581 889 346.

WALKING SPORTS CLUB                 16 OCTOBER 2016 NEWS

United for All has received £6,700 from the Awards For All funding programme to help provide opportunities for more men and women over 50 to take part in regular physical activity as part of a “Walking Sports Club” project.  The project will see weekly sessions set up in Dundee for walking football, walking netball and walking basketball – with the intention to add two more new sports in 2017.

Jamie Kirk, Community Trust Manager at the charity had this to say about the project, “Walking Football has achieved fantastic success across the country and we want to use the buzz around this and extend it to capture even more people using other sports as the catalyst.  The benefits of regular physical activity are there for all to see in terms of improved physical and mental health and its never too late to get started again.  We delivered Walking Football and Netball at the recent Dundee Together event at City Square and the uptake was really encouraging on the day”.

More information will be available soon regarding the times and dates of the sessions.  If you’d like to get involved in any of our sessions, please get in touch with Lauren Dickson either by email at projects@unitedforall.co.uk or by telephone on 07581 889 346.
